Position: Band Leader

Salary: £20,000 per annum with the potential to progress up to £32,000 per annum

Festival and Events Work: Opportunities to earn more from festivals and gigs Sound Factory, put on throughout the year.

Job Type: 4 days per week, permanent role.

Experience: No teaching experience required – full training, support and development provided.

Transport: UK/EU Driving Licence and own transport is an essential requirement for the role.

Holiday: 8+ weeks paid holiday per year

Location: You'll teach in multiple schools across Plymouth each week. 

Fuel: Fuel contributions in addition to salary

About Sound Factory Schools

Sound Factory Schools is a peripatetic music school that predominantly focuses on band lessons for primary-age children. We do however, aim to work in more secondary schools.

Our inclusive approach helps children find a sense of belonging through new friendships and a shared love of music, while boosting confidence, wellbeing and social skills.

Sound Factory Schools employ full-time, permanent musicians to deliver in-school band lessons. We teach cover songs to primary-age children and SEND Schools in Plymouth and direct students to create their own original music too. We also have a unique position to give life changing opportunities to children through festival performance slots and time in our recording studio on the Barbican in Plymouth. 

We look to add more band leaders from a wide range of backgrounds, so although you might not currently be working in a music-related role or have any teaching experience, we believe that If you bring the right mix of musical ability, enthusiasm, and belief in our purpose, we’ll provide the training and support you need to succeed.

We are also looking to grow Sound Factory Schools and therefore progression is something we aim to achieve. 

As a Band Leader, you will:

* Teach groups of children in a fun, inspiring rock and pop band format in up to 10 schools per week.
